Vera is an autonomous, electric, and emission-free tractor unit developed by Volvo Trucks for heavy haulage. It has no driver's cab, is equipped with sensors, and is part of an integrated system connected through a cloud-based service and management center. Vera operates on pre-defined routes and is particularly well-suited to short, repetitive trips where large volumes of goods need to be transported, making ports, factory sites, and large logistics centers its natural habitat. Its design consists of three key elements: the "brain," the "body," and the "lighting elements." Vera has started practical trials in the Swedish Port of Gothenburg and is now in use by a Danish ferry and logistics company to transport containers from the logistics center to the port. The aim is to provide a seamless, constant flow of goods, optimize transportation and logistics processes, and guarantee continuous goods transportation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
