Just hours before the Balmain Fall/Winter 2024-2025 fashion show, Vogue France caught up with the champion, Serena Williams during the frenzy that is Paris Fashion Week. For the athlete who holds the most titles in the history of women’s tennis, clothing has always been more than a means of expression, and represents a vehicle for advocacy in her sport. The legend and center court favorite has now retired, and today she willingly stays on the sidelines of fashion shows in order to support the designers. Serena Williams, who was close to the late Virgil Abloh, and is a great admirer and friend of Olivier Rousteing, highlights the importance of diversity and equal opportunities, both at the top of sports leaderboards and at the helm of fashion houses. In an interview featuring a few words in French, the athlete tells us about her love for France, which is very much mutual. France loves her right back!
