It’s never been about the social media for me. I love these animals more than I could tell you. I’ve taken a step back from constantly posting on this page to focus on growing Gone Whale Watching into an ecotour I can be truly proud of, but capturing moments like these are what makes this job so unbelievably special and fulfilling. The mother of this newborn baby Gray Whale was very protective, and was actively avoiding whale watching boats. I decided that it would be best to not approach the pair after seeing this behavior. Instead, I had our passengers look over my shoulder to view the screen on my remote controller, as our drone captured these tender moments. The whales were completely relaxed, and happy to be away from boats. This is just one of the many benefits of drone usage in the whale watching industry, and here at Gone Whale Watching we’re proud to always have a drone on board, ready for moments like these!
