The tension between the two nations, which seemed to somewhat ease following recent high-level discussions between the U.S. and China, is escalating again. The ongoing economic conflict is expected to continue as both countries begin to curtail investments in each other.

In August, the Joe Biden administration issued an executive order that either banned or placed restrictions on its citizens' investments in China, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and quantum computing. Additionally, the region of Hong Kong and Macau were designated as "countries of concern."

The two countries agreed to a trade war truce earlier this year, but some argue that they have crossed a "river that cannot be returned" due to China's controversy over the enactment of the Hong Kong National Security Law. As the National People's Congress pushed ahead with the enactment of the bill, the U.S. and European countries criticized China with one voice, and China is also fiercely protesting, calling it "interference in internal affairs."

Is there a solution to improve U.S.-China relations? In this session, Dr. Xiang Bing, the founding dean of the CKGSB, proposes a new economic model for China and the United States to collaborate. #uschina #china #economy
