Compact crossovers are everywhere and they sell like the PS5 on Black Friday. The latest crossovers to this saturated market are the Kia Seltos and Chevrolet Trailblazer. So how do they stack up against each other? Let’s go for a test drive in both and find out.

The 2021 Kia Seltos is available with a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine that produces 146 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque. However, this top SX trim receives a 1.6L turbocharged engine. This 1.6L engine produces a healthy 175 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque.

The 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer is available with two engines, both of which are turbocharged 3-cylinders. Nope, that’s not a typo. The base engine is a 1.2L turbo 3-cylinder while the optional engine – as equipped – is a 1.3L turbocharged 3-cylinder. This 1.3L produces 155 hp and 174 lb-ft of torque (115 kW & 236 Nm) which is actually more than what you get in the Nissan Qashqai but less than the Kia Seltos with the optional 1.6L turbo engine.

As you would expect from crossovers these days, the Kia Seltos 2021 comes equipped with features such as heated seats, CarPlay & Android Auto, Bluetooth, 8-inch touchscreen, and so on as standard. However, it does not have any advanced safety or driver aids as standard.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer 2021 comes equipped with a suite of advanced safety & driver aids as standard. Forward collision alert with pedestrian detection and emergency braking, lane change alert with lane keep and auto high beam. Side zone alert – or blind spot sensors – and rear cross traffic alert are the only driver aids that are optional.
