The Mare of Easttown episode 5 trailer gives us a glimpse of some scenes from the upcoming episodes that look like they might be important. The episode will air this Sunday on HBO and HBO Max. Mare Sheehan (Kate Winslet) is still working the case with Colin Zabel (Evan Peters). In the new trailer we see them pursue Katie Bailey and Missy Sagar’s kidnapper, and we see Mare with a gun and a bleeding hand in what looks like his apartment. Since she’s suspended and had to turn in her gun, fans are wondering if she’s using Colin’s after he was killed.

We also see Erin’s best friend Jess in the episode 5 trailer with Dylan. Jess had appeared cooperative with the detectives in episode 4, and there hasn’t been any indication that she was connected with Dylan beyond being Erin’s friend.

The limited series only has three more episodes, and it looks like the kidnapping case isn’t connected to Erin’s murder. Many of the early suspects have turned out to be red herrings. Deacon Mark, Frank Sheehan, and Richard have all been made to look suspicious, but not it seems more likely that Billy and John Ross might turn out to be guilty.
