I recently had a viewer contact me concerned about a TPO membrane roof on their 2016 Tuscany.

They were told by a dealer that it required a new roof. The owner asked me to verify as an independent inspector what I thought. Now Thor is a very large volume economy RV builder and put a TPO roof on a Class A diesel pusher. I would expect a fiberglass roof on a unit of this price point but Thor does not.

TPO roofs are a plastic membrane which is flexible and is much more common on a 5th wheel or travel trailer. This roof had some twisting at the radius which, although is unsightly and unfortunate, is just a cosmetic issue and does not hinder weatherproofing performance. I did not recommend a new roof it should last another 15 years if well maintained and inspected.
