The University of Utah was named the Wattsmart Business Partner of the Year from local partner, Rocky Mountain Power. The award recognizes the U’s continuing commitment to create and improve energy-efficiencies across campus to reach its goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

In 2020, the U was able to save over 13 million kilowatts-hour of energy—equivalent to the power used by approximately 1,500 homes annually. The savings were attained through the completion of 58 campus-wide projects using just over $1.5 million in incentives from Rocky Mountain Power’s Wattsmart energy efficiency program.
