During the Emotionally Available: Secrets to Attracting in a Relationship Ready Partner masterclass that I hosted about a week and a half back, one woman said…

“I don’t think it’s wise to open up or be vulnerable before you know if you can trust that person first!.”

Honestly, I got so fired up by this comment. Not at this woman for making the comment, but frustrated that this is what we are taught by our parents and society about how trust works.

It’s also not our parents' fault because the lack of trust is passed down from generation to generation when there are deep levels of betrayal, cheating, or lying that occur within the family lineage but it’s never released or worked through.

I was fired up because trust is such a nuanced topic, and most people relate to it like someone must “earn” your trust or prove themselves to you.

Truth is someone can easily earn your trust by saying all the right things, even acting in specific ways; that doesn’t mean they are trustworthy.

You can’t outsource trust to the other person to prove it to you. It’s important for you to connect to yourself and choose trust through what you observe, see, and experience.
