Following on from last week's 'Titanic' Rust on the UK E46 M3, we thought it would be good to show the opposite end of the scale this week.......

This is a 2002 74,000 KMS 'Japanese-Import' E46 M3 in pristine condition.

We can't stress how good this car is.
Without a doubt one of the best overall condition E46 M3s we've seen for years.

However, even though this car presents extremely well underneath and chassis-wise, it is suffering from age-related rubber rot.

This leads us to ask the question "Is low mileage best"?

There are a surprising amount of rubber and foam components perishing on this vehicle given its low mileage.
We don't see this sort of rubber deterioration on UK cars with 150k miles (240kms).

Is this because of a difference in temperature or environment in Japan?
Does anyone know?
Feel free to comment below.

Luckily, perished rubbers and foam items are quite minor and can be easily resolved with new parts (bolt off, bolt on) which is far more appealing than having to deal with stubborn corrosion.

Every Japanese import we've seen has been EXCELLENT underneath and whatever they're doing (or not doing) seems to be working well.

It's nice to show something other than a corroded E46 M3 for a change so we hope you enjoy this week's short video.
