VW's ID.4 isn't the EV designed to "beat Tesla" and that's OK, because VW has a bigger mission in mind: convince RAV4, CR-V, Escape, and Tiguan shoppers to try their first electric vehicle. To that end VW shaped it like a normal compact crossover, have it a solid usable range and mora importantly: unlimited DC fast charging for three years. If you're worried about charging and the cost of charging, this is one sure fire way to eliminate those fears, at least for three years.
