Testing the Big Tree tech Knomi display on my V2 `Hell Fire` which is a HEVO conversion to a Voron V2.24

Initial Thoughts & Reactions

1. Very easy to set up, took about 30 seconds on my mobile. I used a spare 5 volt & ground pin on a HartK 2 piece PCB to power the display.
2. Display 3D printed clip very delicate and it is not totally intuitive how it clips in. I would suggest printing a few spares.
3. Seems to work generally very well except for the provided additional Macros
4. Copying the macros direct from the PDF does not work. The formatting is corrupted and the gcode needs indenting to stop Klipper stopping through bad parsing.
5. I still had errors there after with Klipper suggesting that there had been recursive homing commands and stopped with an error so more work to be done there. I need to investigate the Macro code further to get this to work.
6. Not totally convinced by BTT claims regards the PCF performance. The 5015 is designed for a side intake and the resulting torture test is not the best I have ever printed. Printed in PLA with the chamber doors open.
7. I would like to see some additional info like print time left for example, I am sure stuff is in the pipeline.

Edit: I swapped out the Knomi Fascia and printed the same torture test with the stock fascia.

Clearly the bridging and overhangs on the stock fascia are better so I am dubious about BTT claims that the air flow via their new design is improved.

Update 12\05\23

1. The Macro issue is when using a Klicky Probe. It does not take into account an external config, just renames what is in the basic config. Works fine with Tap.
2. The CAD design is basically Amateur Hour. The clip is brittle, no tolerance interface with the SB body, clip angles are not perpendicular, just not fit for purpose. I would suggest printing a couple of spares at least, I went through 5 when testing a tolerance change. It is very easy to accidentally push the display inwards when moving the SB around after installation. Stick to the day job BTT :)
3. States multi coloured display but all images are basically one colour on a black background.
4. Needs to do a lot more to be useful. Nothing shown for QGL (would like to see tolerance info whilst printing). Only shows extruder temp on pre heat instead of both heat sources. No display for cooling, constant temp updates would be good. Early days, just needs more info like estimated print times or ETA rather than repetitive Voron logo displays.
5. Generally just does not feel finished both in Design and Electronics terms. I think the restricted PFC will be a deal breaker for me in the long term unless I design a completely different housing to better suit the airflow.

My first mod for this on Printables.com. The `Kenny` mod provides much better air flow and a much more robust display mount but may slightly effect Y axis build volume if your SB is tight to the doors. link: https://www.printables.com/model/4824...
