They promised at the last election not to raise national insurance, but now the government is facing stiff opposition from Tory benches over reports they're planning a tax increase to fund the beleaguered social care system in England.

Earlier, Cabinet Minister Nadhim Zahawi refused to rule out the idea. The plans to overhaul social care funding and provide more cash for the NHS are expected to be unveiled later this week.
