Aluminum oxide removal is one of the toughest challenges when welding aluminum. By using alternating current to TIG weld, the DC+ side of the half cycle when welding is removing the oxide layer. Notice in the video that not enough current is utilized to melt the base material only enough to remove the oxide layer to prepare the material for welding.
