In this video I show you how to remove a basket strainer for a kitchen sink that doesn't want to come out.
First, I remove the P trap and piping to gain access to the basket strainer.
Then, I remove the basket strainer nut and basket strainer. If it doesn't want to come off (which happens in this video) I drill several small holes and pry loose with a flathead screwdriver.
I then install a new basket strainer with plumbers putty and tighten up the nut.
Finally, I install P trap and extension using a small amount of pipe dope to make a good seal.
