Yes, I know we did a Mark V a couple of months ago, but this one is a better example, and more fun to highlight. This Wedgewood Blue 1978 model is loaded with options, and has the desirable 460ci under the hood, the last giant engine offered by the big three in a production car.

The Mark V, though cliched even upon its arrival, was the right car for the right time (in terms of customer tastes), but the wrong car for the Malaise era, where downsizing and small engines ruled the day - In defiance of all that, the Mark V was actually larger than its predecessor, and retained a 460ci V8 after most companies had gone to a displacement far lower.

They sold well, though Ford sacrificed long-term planning for short term gain, and their failure to establish a smaller coupe earlier cost them going in to the 1980s. Either way, the world is now better off with a few of these gorgeous dinosaurs prowling the boulevards today.
