Throughout the 1980s, the old SS America (renamed the Alferdoss) was idle in the Greek bay of Eleusis. She joined other worn out hulks, including some former liners, to either await being scrapped, or to see a brighter future. But the former flagship of the United States Lines would instead suffer the indignity of slowing rotting away at her moorings. Despite this depressing existence, she was still dreaming of returning to her former glory. This video is a spiritual tribute to the ship whilst stuck in Greece. There are some rare pictures, including her near sinking in 1988.
