Inline-8 Engine:
The inline-eight engine is an eight-cylinder internal combustion engine with all eight cylinders mounted in a straight line along the crankshaft.
Eight-cylinder engines have been produced in various configurations, including, side-valve, Intake-over-exhaust, overhead-valve, sleeve-valve, and overhead-cam configurations.

V8 Engine:
Each configuration has its own advantages and disadvantages and has been used in different applications depending on the specific needs of the vehicle. For example, overhead-valve and overhead-cam configurations are commonly used in high-performance sports cars, while side-valve configurations were popular in early automobiles. Sleeve-valve engines were also used in some luxury cars in the early 20th century.

A V8 engine is an eight-cylinder piston engine in which two banks of four cylinders share a common crankshaft and are arranged in a V configuration. V8 engines are known for their power and smooth operation. The V shape of the engine allows it to be more compact than an inline eight-cylinder engine, while still providing ample power.

The even number of cylinders also ensures that the engine is balanced, reducing vibrations and providing a smoother ride. The angle between the two banks of cylinders can vary, but it is typically around 90 degrees. This angle results in good engine balance, which results in low vibrations.

Flat-8 Engine:
A flat-eight engine, also called a horizontally-opposed eight, is an eight-cylinder piston engine with two banks of four inline cylinders, one on each side of a central crankshaft, 180° apart. The term "flat" refers to the cylinder layout, where the cylinders lie flat and are positioned horizontally rather than being upright or inclined.

The cylinders are positioned horizontally, with the pistons moving in and out in opposite directions. This configuration creates a balanced engine design with a lower center of gravity, which can result in improved stability and handling for vehicles. A boxer-eight engine is a special case of a flat-eight where each piston's connecting rod has its own journal, and each pair of opposed pistons moves inwards or outwards at the same time.
