Today I show you how to change your oil via an oil extraction pump rather than draining both the pan and cooler from the bottom. This is the methods most dealers and shops will use, however, it should be mentioned that this method does not work for ALL engines. I can confirm it works for the M156, but be sure to check on other engines. Some modern engines don't even have dipsticks (such as my BMW N54), so this method would not work on those. @AccentOnCars has a more detailed video on his channel of oil extraction on an M156, so if this video wasn't enough, be sure to check out his content as well!
Some general concerns with oil extraction is that it will leave debris at the bottom of the pan. From what trained professionals tell me, whatever debris there is should get picked up by the filter regardless. However, I will likely still drain from the bottom every few oil changes just to be sure. Extraction is far more convenient, and allows me to quickly get new oil changes done more frequently, especially when I lack time.
