Throughout its history, the Georgetown School of Continuing Studies has prepared students to meet the demands of a changing economy and society.

The story begins in 1954, when Georgetown formalized year-round education. Wartime had dramatically shortened academic schedules, and students were looking to complete their degrees in less time.

20 years later, cultural changes were once again shaping the needs of students. As they participated in the political and social movements of the day, students sought courses that could help them understand the rapidly changing world.

Over the years, SCS continued to celebrate new milestones, including the introduction of Master of Professional Studies programs in 2007 and the construction on a new campus in downtown DC in 2012.

SCS celebrates over 50 years since its founding. The school now features more than 20 degree programs in liberal and professional studies, non-degree professional education and development, English language education, and summer programs.

Through it all, SCS has answered the call of the economy and society, providing unmatched education to working professionals who demand more from their studies and from their university.
