'Savariyo Parnayo' is a devotional Meera Bhajan that recalls the glory of Saint Meera Bai and her eternal bond with Lord Giridhari or better known as Lord Krishna. The poet says that what a pious matrimonial bond has been created with Meera Bai accepting Lord Krishna as her husband.

'Bhakti' of the style of Meera is not just worship but involves a deeper madness altogether. A readiness to abandon everything including oneself. Meera Bai, a Hindu mystic poet and a devotee of Krishna was one of the most significant saints of the Vaishnava bhakti movement. She sang of her love for Krishna with such simplicity and directness that in her songs millions have found a voice and echo of their own God-yearning.

The poet says that her marriage with Rana is of no avail as him being a mortal, will crumble to death one day but Lord Krishna as a groom is a never ending blessing as he is mighty and indestructible.

When Rana and his family tried to poison Meera, she drank the cup of poison in one go that soon turned into Amrit by the divine blessings of Lord Krishna. The Rana even sent snakes to kill her but the snakes turned into beautiful garlands before they could harm Meera Bai. Her true faith in Lord Krishna shields her from all sorts of evils.

Listen to this melodious Meera Bhajan in the soothing voice of Mahesharam ji.

Vocal : Mahesharam & Bhallu Ram

English translation of the song-

I please you, my mother! Wed me to my beloved
Wed me to my beloved! To the one who holds the mountain!

Why be married to Rana?
Born and dies, suffers in the cycle of life and death
Making Sawariya my husband
Our bond becomes eternal
Wed me to my beloved!

Rana sent a bowl of poison
Gave it to the hands of Meera
It turned into nectar
Wed me to my beloved!

Rana sent a basket of snakes
Gave it to the hands of Meera
Turned into a necklace
Wed me to my beloved!

Says, Meera Bai
I sing the grace of my beloved
I please you, my mother!
Wed me to my beloved!
