7Artisans Photoelectric 50mm T1.05 Vision Cine Lens 4K Video test (Shot on Sony A7IV)
This is the 7Artisans 50mm T1.05 Cinema lens. Firstly, I have never used a 7Artisans lens before. So I was very excited when I received the lens. There are so many affordable cine lenses on the market now. But with a large aperture like T1.05. There aren’t many. Secondly, I’m actually surprised with the build quality. Even though it is very affordable. But it doesn’t feel cheap at all. Focus ring is super smooth.

So how is the performance of this lens. Well, as you would’ve expected. Wide open is a bit focus. I mean, It’s really soft. But it does perform really well at T2.0. And I would say the sharpest would be above T2.8. Even though it might not be the sharpest lens in the world. But there is a character. It gives you an organic film look.

And one thing I really like about the mini Cine primes. Its they are just 77mm to 82mm front filter thread. Unlike the traditional cine lens that you always have to use a big Matt Box for ND filters. It makes the run and gun type of shooting a lot easier.

Mind you, this focal length might not be for everyone. Because after the Super 35mm crop. You are getting 75mm. 75mm isn’t as wide as the 50mm and it is definitely not tight like 85mm or 105mm.

Over all, I think this is a really fun lens to use.
