TAYLOR SWIFT EFFECT
In the early hours of this morning, these very devoted and very tired fans gathered at Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport to welcome the world's biggest pop-star to Australia. But Swiftmania is not only impacting sleep schedules, but flight prices, hotel bookings, and the bead business. Fans are making friendship bracelets, while also making some business owners pretty happy. The City of Melbourne is estimating that Taylor Swift will bring in more than $1 billion to the city's economy over one weekend. This is basic Swiftonomics, and yes, that is a thing. So while business is big, the excitement is even bigger.

VICTORIAN WEATHER UPDATE
After an intense couple of day, Victorians are starting to assess the damage caused by massive bushfires and storms. Two fires burning in Grampians National Park are now under control, but they burnt through about 6,000 hectares of bushland and destroyed at least 25 homes. As for the storms well, more than 544,000 lightning strikes were recorded in and around Melbourne on Tuesday, which helps explain the mass blackouts and uprooted trees. Most of the power is back on now, and locals are starting the clean up.

WORLD SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Aussies have racked up another four medals at the World Swimming Championships in Doha. Sam Williamson took out gold in the 50-metre breaststroke and set an Australian record time of 26.32 seconds! Elijah Winnington and Brianna Throssell won silver and bronze respectively in the 800 and 200-metre freestyle, while our mixed 4 by 100 metre team also snapped up another silver in the medley relay.

HOCKEY PRO LEAGUE
The Hockeyroos have defeated China 2-0 at the International Hockey Federation Pro League in India. The Aussies haven't been able to get the better of China in any of their previous six international encounters. But after a strong second half, they came away with the win.

LAWLESS FOOTBALL
Now to England where everyone is setting their friendships aside to compete in this fierce game of Lawless Football! Well, almost lawless. It features unlimited players, no time limit, and a 4.8k pitch! It can get pretty chaotic with shops in the town even needing to get boarded up to limit the damage.

A GLOBAL VALENTINES DAY RECAP
Thanks to little old Valentine's Day, love has taken over the world! Starting with the city of love - Paris. For love, people break all the rules, including road rules I guess? But no international landmark was safe, from India's Taj Mahal, to our own Sydney Opera House, to New York's Times Square. The love spell even managed to attack private polling stations in Indonesia. And back home, our own Prime Minister, Anthony Albenese, who took to social media to announce some big news - he's engaged! But Valentine's Day isn't just about romantic love, these people in the Philippines celebrated with rescue animals! Yep. That is how I plan to spend Valentine's Day every year, forever.
