Many of you are considering the purchase of a pool or perhaps just got one and wondered how to maintain the salt levels of their pool. First, let us explain that a salt water pool has MUCH less salt then the ocean with the ideal amount being about 3200 parts per million (PPM). The ocean, by contrast, is about 35,000 PPM. So, in short, you really don't notice the salt to much when swimming. But what's the salt do? Well, there is something called a salt water cell that splits the salt into chlorine and sodium (which is why you might have to occasionally add acid). IN order for this to make the right amount of chlorine you have to keep the salt levels at 3200. Most pump systems will accurately detect the salt levels so if it says its lower then 3k ppm you might want to toss a bag in. Anyhow, after the Winter, our pool got LOTS of rain (no salt) and the levels were low. So Ethan and Pop decided to drop a bag in. Join this great father and son team as they show their friends and family how to add salt to the pool in their awesome pool maintenance series!
