In this video we look at my experience upgrading my parents' ancient heating system to Hive smart controls. In an attempt to disconnect the old manual thermostat we come across some scarily bodged wiring hidden under the floor. Their system also required the Hive receiver to be switched into "Gravity Fed mode" as, in order to get heating, their system needs the hot water and heating to be turned on at the same time.
