Saza - Drawing directly from an episode of my own life, Saza (punishment) is my open letter to my ex-lover. It’s all the things I wish I said but never got to. I want to know if they’ve been thinking about me; I want to tell them I still know the sound of their voice so many years later. It is simultaneously the most personal and also universally relatable song on the album. I intentionally kept the lyrics simple in order to focus more on the emotion, and the mix of Hindi and English fully captures my Indian-American background.
