Jasmin Moghbeli is reaching for the stars. First it’s to space and then, eventually, to the Moon. She calls Baldwin, New York her hometown where she grew up and went to Lenox Elementary School and then onto Baldwin Senior High School. She was interested from a very young age to become an astronaut. She’s a daughter, became a Marine, married, became a wife and then a mother of twins. Today she flew into space out of Cape Canaveral as the Commander of Crew 7 to replace Crew 6 on the ISS (Zarya). So ironic and iconic, as an alumnus of Baldwin Senior High School, I vividly recall looking at the old-fashioned murals typical of 1950’s of human pursuits of knowledge, philosophy, science, athletics and technology. The mural still remains to this day and the diagram of a trail of a space vehicle launching from Cape Canaveral, Florida into orbit and then into space. One day that will be Commander Moghbeli’s trajectory when she flies to the Moon as part of the Artemis program by NASA. We’re very proud and congratulate her on this most significant human achievement.
