Sky News Australia host Rita Panahi has blasted American singer-songwriter John Mellencamp’s “pathetic” tantrum on stage.

In the clip shared by Jonesy and Amanda on Instagram, an audience member asked him to play music rather than preach about politics.

Mellencamp is seen responding to the criticism with foul language before threatening to “stop the show” and “go home”.

“Since you have been so wonderful I am going to cut about ten songs out of the show,” he said on stage.

Ms Panahi blasted the musician for acting like a “petulant toddler”.
