2021: The Year of the New Bathroom

Here comes 2021, and if you’re like most of us, it can’t come soon enough. Regardless if you’re a new-year’s-resolution type person or you lean more toward what happens, happens, it’s still fun to dream about all the possibilities that lie in store for the new year.

Like a new bathroom.

We love the idea of starting the year fresh, and what better way than with a brand new bathroom. Your bathroom is where you get yourself ready to face the day, then wind down at the end of it all, so it should be an invigorating, inspiring space that makes you smile.

If you’re not so sure your bathroom is ready for a remodel, here are some telltale signs it’s time -- and why.

You’ve had your toilet since before the world wide web.
Toilets that were installed after 1992 cannot use more than 1.6 gallons per flush. If you still have an older model, you could literally be flushing money down the toilet.

Leaks and drips are part of the aesthetic.
It can be easy to ignore a small drip running down the side of the faucet. But the thing about small leaks is that over time, they turn into big leaks. And big leaks can cause big problems -- and cost you up to 2,700 gallons of water each year!

Storage? What storage?
Getting ready in the morning should be easy and enjoyable, not a wrestling match with all your necessities. Especially when the solution might be just a vanity replacement away.

Two words: Wobbly toilet.
This is a problem for more than the obvious reasons. It could mean there is a leak that is causing the flooring to soften under your toilet. Yikes!

The best way to describe the style is outdated.
Granted, style is subjective, but if you have a pink or blue tub or sink, carpet, loud 70s wallpaper, or tile that’s cracked or unsightly, your bathroom is due for some love. Besides, wouldn’t it be better if you could describe your bathroom as pretty, relaxing, or spa-like?

Its most charming quality is the awkward layout.
All houses have quirks, but the bathroom layout shouldn’t be one of them. When a bathroom lacks proper design, it’s an invitation for trips and falls, which can be really dangerous.
