Riding my Omnium cargobike to run some errands a my local convenience stores / supermarket incl. getting some mandatory face masks (Malaysian police told me to wear a mask, but the Malaysian Health Director-General reiterated two days ago, 3 April, that only those with Covid-19 symptoms and frontliners incl. police are advised to wear face masks but not the public at large. Conflicting messaging! Ohh well, let me just get some masks just in case......). I am also trying out the GoPro windslayer foam casing to solve the wind noise problem. It works beautifully, as is apparent from my before-and-after video comparison.

It's the 16th day of the coronavirus partial lockdown in Malaysia (aka confined movement order) and life goes on with almost empty streets - as it should be to counter a virus epidemic.

Please note that my battery died while in the supermarket, hence, no video of the return-trip with my heavy shopping load (3 bags of groceries), which is easy carried on the electric cargobike :-)

Highlights of the video include:

0:33 Elastic net, very useful for quick and easy strapping of things onto the cargobike platform
1:30 Wind noise comparison with / without the windslayer foam casing from GoPro. The windslayer is really effective in reducing the wind noise. Great!
1:39 Notice also difference in camera view angles. Wide angle (with wind noise) vs. Super wide angle (without wind noise). The latter is preferred on both accounts ;-)
1:58 Close-up video of the windslayer on GoPro 8 and the cut-out alterations of the foam cover, as the windslayer casing is made for earlier versions of GoPro (Hero 5, 6 and 7)
2:48 Stopping at the KK convenience store to get face masks and to print one page. Some lost in translation ensues.... ;-)
5:22 Walking across the street to 7-Eleven to see if they can print. Also not possible....
7:26 Unsuccessfully trying on the mask. Later found out I just have pull from the mouth piece to separate the strings, and they won't break even though they seem very thin and flimsy.
8:04 Conversation with lady asking me if I can see. I sure hope so, since I'm riding a bicycle - LOL!
10:40 Roads are wet after rain.
11:26 Crossing the virtually empty main road of Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Sultan Ismail
12:20 Arriving at back-entrance of Mercato supermarket and asking guards where I can park my bicycle
14:04 Passing some small but nasty grills in the road. Have to cross at an angle in order for bicycle wheel not to go inside!
14:48 Looking for a place to park by bicycle outside Pavilion Bukit Bintang. I need something to lock my bicycle to, which is always a challenge.
15:25 The guards disagree with my choice of parking space and ask me to go to the other side of the road to park. Okay loh!
16:49 I got lucky. Spotting a small yellow metal pole with a loop to which I can lock my cargobike
18:46 Watch the empty scenes in the Pavilion shopping mall. On a Thursday 6 pm, this place would normally be bustling with people. Not today....!
21:10 Walking through the empty food court at the Pavilion basement
21:36 The loudspeakers are fittingly playing the song "Despacito", which means "slowly", which is true during this Covid-19 pandemic, where much of the World is coming to a virtual standstill.
22:27 Temperature control + mandatory application of hand sanitiser at supermarket. Good!
23:07 Well-stocked supermarket 16 days into the partial shut-down. The initial panic-buying at supermarkets was thankfully unwarranted

My Omnium cargobike is from Denmark, but available on their webshop. I got mine delivered within 1 week of ordering it! Several viewers asked about the bike, so here are the details.
Website: https://omniumcargo.dk/

Price: RM10,000 (USD2500) for the cargobike without electric motor
Price: RM15,000 (USD3750) for the cargobike with electric motor, which is the one I have. The electric motor is a Shimano STEPS 8000 power unit. Motor power is 250 W (the max limit allowed in the EU), the battery stores 0.5 kWh of electricity, giving a range of 80-100 km, and only costing RM0.20 (USD0.05) to charge. Cheap operating expenses :-)

The video is filmed using a GoPro 8 camera mounted on a chest-strap. For windnoise reduction, the GoPro camera was put in a windslayer foam casing.
