Why does Final Fantasy 9 hit different all these years later? It's been well over 20 years since FF9 launched on PlayStation, but it's managed to remain a constant in my gaming habits. It's vast world and charming art design is partly why I return to it, but the game's human story and characters, and themes surrounding existentialism, is something few other games have tackled as well, and certainly not in a game that's simultaneously so tragic and whimsical at the same time.

In this video, we explore why Final Fantasy IX is so good all these years later, from the music to the battle system, and even though this isn't a complete Final Fantasy IX review, I suppose it serves as such, even though I'd love to do a much longer, much more in depth review at a later point.
