The Anniversary Mine, located near Lake Mead in Nevada, was a borax mine that operated from 1921 to 1936. The mine produced colemanite, a boron mineral used to make borax. It ultimately closed due to high operation costs and competition from California borax mines.

Location:
Accessible via Anniversary Mine Road, which leads off Northshore Road in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The hike to the mine is relatively short and easy

Things to see:
Remains of the mine include foundations, timbers, and ore chutes.
The hike also leads to the beautiful Anniversary Narrows, a slot canyon.

Things to know:
The area is hot and dry, so bring plenty of water if you plan to hike!
The road to the mine is not too bad, basically any stock truck or SUV can make it out there.
