ONE SHOT is a new Rebel Pictures short film that was captured on a single case of kodak 50D, Super 8 film. (That’s 2,5 minutes of raw-material) The film was made as a test for a bigger project and was metered, shot, directed and edited by Jesper Tønnes. It stars the Bo Thomas, Jakob Fløe Lind, and the sound was recorded by Baldur Meitil.

Film is amazing! Not just when talking about the art-form but as a medium as well. There’s something magical about capturing light on a physical piece of plastic, and then after a bunch of chemical-baths being able to show it off as a picture. The texture, the color, the gear but most of all I the process.

Rebel Pictures is slowly moving towards our dream of being able to shot motion picture film. To get back to the roots of filmmaking, where the sound of the camera meant money was being spend, and every frame had to be used to it’s upmost creative potential. There's always stakes in filmmaking but film ads a element of importance to every frame that we love to explore. Like the audience in a theatre, the “rolling of film” gives the work and performance something to bounce back off.

It’s super exiting to play around with Super 8. It’s a small format that have come a long way since Kodak introduced the Vision3 filmstock. We know this film isn't much. It is style over substance, and long shot from shoving the true cinematic potential of the format. But as a test is was a wonderful make-or-break way to see if we had skill to work with film. We also hope it can inspire. Film is alive and well. Everybody who loves making moves should go shot some film.

The film was scanned with a bit of headroom. So what you’re seeing in the top and bottom is the next and previous piece of film just before it rolls on to the “stage” - Shot on a Canon 1014 XL-S with an AG-LA7200 Anamorphic Lens Adapter. The film was processed through Shutterbug in Copenhagen.
