This week I drove a very trendy SUV... the Range Rover Sport!! Actually a fairly base HSE Silver Edition, offering an appealing blend of features and relative affordability. Paired with a turbocharged 6-cylinder, it lines up with the likes of BMW X5, Mercedes GLE, and the Audi Q7 -- just to name a few.

Since its inception in 2005, the RR Sport has been a smashing success. This 2022 model very well may be on its last legs generationally speaking, but it still holds up with the very best from Germany and actually bests many of them in the "feeling special" department.

When someone's considering a vehicle that fairly close to base spec is still over $80k, feeling special is pretty high up on the list of wants. As is fitting into a certain crowd, and the Sport here does both well.

I've certainly grown to appreciate a solid SUV, and while this RR leans a little more into the (ahem) Sport theme, it still offers a high seating position, off-road capability, and even a higher water wading capacity than a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon... 33.5 inches!
