Open-water, or wild, swimming is not only great exercise, but it can also help combat stress, reduce anxiety, improve sleep, and it gets us outside! OS GetOutside Champion, mountaineer and wild swimmer Eli Bishop tells us how to be wild and safe.

1. Never swim alone
2. Don't jump into cold water
3. Wear suitable swimwear and footwear
4. Have lots of layers for when you get out
5. Take time to get to know the water you're getting into
