A lot of my trading methods are based around horses, that will stand out to the form-reading punter. To find such horses, you need to have an understanding of the master form variable, which is speed. I call it the master form variable, because if a horse can’t compete on speed, the other form variables are not going to help the horse win a race.

For dobbing and in-play trading, being able to assess a horse’s winning chances, is obvious. As pre-race traders, it can still be helpful to have a read on the public’s perceptions of a horse’s chances of winning a race. In this video, I will explain how to interpret speed, using the Racing Post. In future videos, I will sometimes be referring to speed.

The idea of this video is that I won’t have to explain how I calculate horses’ speed ratings, whenever I mention “speed” in the future. So, the general idea is to get us all on the same page, so that I won’t be talking a language that viewers don’t understand in future videos.
