So since this while "video" thing is now my full time job I decided to pull the trigger on a pretty big gear upgrade. I've LOVED my 4/5 years shooting with sony cameras, and I still plan on keeping a lot of my sony gear. HOWEVER. There's been a list of 4 specific things that I personally need in a camera that ONLY exist in the 1dxii. Trust me, I've looked. I'd been holding out and hoping that Sony would just come out with the A7siii soon but they're taking their time and I've got work to do.

The 4 things I needed in a camera were as follows:
1. 4k at 60fps (larger than M4/3 or APSC format)
2. Amazing durability/weather-sealing
3. Touchscreen focus
4. Vastly extended battery life
(optional) 5. Better bitrate for video.

After months of searching I came to realize that no other camera would give me all these factors and so I bought the 1dxii. At this point it's been a week and I'm LOVING this camera. The Image is so unique, even compared to the 4k from my a7rii it just feels more organic of an image. My biggest worry was not being able to shoot log, but the version of Clog3 from James Miller has mostly made that a non issue.

Motion Jpeg is actually not nearly as bad as people say. I have a 2015 macbook pro and yeah, it's in no way "easy" to edit... But it's doable. Due to the camera using the jpeg engine to create the video files the image is incredible.

I have a lot to say about this camera, but it's late and I've started to ramble. Maybe I'll just make a review of my experience after a few months.

Thanks for watching
