The first of Volkswagen's ID. vehicles has launched in Canada, we're seeing how the 2022 VW ID.4 AWD Pro S compares to recent electrics and why you might want to consider this one as your next car.

This video was made possible with the support of Elmec and their EVduty Smart Home Charger. You can schedule, control access, and even see your estimated charging costs from the EVduty smartphone app. Use public charging stations and grant access to your own all from the app. For more information about the EVduty Smart Home Charger visit: https://www.elmec.ca/language/en/

We've driven a lot of electric vehicles here on TestDrive over the years, recently the 2022 Kia Niro EV SX Touring and 2022 Volvo XC40 Recharge Ultimate. While neither of those directly compare to this Volkswagen ID.4, there are some similarities between them all. I'm sure Volkswagen is looking at the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6 as some recent competitors to for this, however the VW ID.4 stands out as being an affordable option, starting under $50,000 CAD for the AWD model, $44,995.00 CAD for the RWD model. The ID.4 also qualifies for Canada's iZEV electric vehicle rebate and Québec's, giving buyers up to $13,000.00 in savings.

We discuss the technical info about the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro S along with the differences with the AWD model along with the Statement Package which costs $8,000. We go over the electric range and how it stacks up on our winter testing, along with our overall thoughts on how this vehicle looks, feels, and presents itself. There are some unique quirks about this EV which we discuss as well.

We take the 2022 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro S on a comprehensive real-world road test, starting off with our energy economy test results and how they compare for other Winter-reviews we've done so far. We then discuss how the ID.4 AWD Pro S drives, rides, handles, and performs and some of the reasons why we like it, and why you may as well. Being marketed as the EV for the millions rather than the millionaires, VW is expecting this aggressive MSRP to get people into the showroom and into an ID vehicle.

We discuss our overall hopes for the future of this car and what we think in comparison to the Mustang Mach-E that we drove last, and why the two of them are so close in specifications to make them worth comparing.
