This is how I am gonna store and manage my footage from now on with Synology DS1618+. I’ve been using tons of external hard drives to store all of my photos and videos in the past and it’s just not a viable solution in the long run. So I did some research and decided to go with Synology DS1618+ because it seems like Synology have an easier learning curve and the software they provide is very user friendly as well. Unboxing and setting up Synology DS1618+ was fairly easy. The Synology DS1618+ is a 6-bay NAS (network attach storage) that can accommodate both 3.5’’ and 2.5’’ size drives. Right now the DS1618+ can support up to 72TB of storage natively but with two DX517 expansion units it can go all the way up to 192TB. You can utilize pretty much any kind of RAID for storage such as SHR (Synology Hybrid Raid) to Raid 10.
