2021's Black Widow is a new Marvel movie starring Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff and Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova and David Harbour as the Red Guardian. The movie has been doing well as a Marvel movie and apparently is far from a box office flop, but it also shares some clear similarities with the Jason Bourne movies as a spy action thriller not unlike Captain America The Winter Soldier. And there the movie for some reason fails to reach the set bar. So in today's anatomy of a failure, let's look at Black Widow as a Bourne-like spy espionage action thriller to find a few core reasons for why it stumbled.

Marvel's The Avengers (2012)

The Bourne Supremacy (2006)
