Shivani illustrates the concept of personal human capital in a way that is tangible to us all, and it is an empowering reflective opportunity to consider what we each bring to our own lives and our world. She also encourages a new way of considering the collective power of our human capital and how it can be used to leverage positive social change throughout the globe.

Shivani is a Master of Public Health candidate in the Department of Global Health. She has worked extensively with underserved and at-risk populations in the eastern United States, while focusing primarily on youth. She has explored community involvement and sociocultural constructs to develop public health programs both in the U.S. and abroad for individuals dealing with HIV, malnutrition, poor access, and poverty. Shivani ultimately hopes to run a self-sustainable orphanage for children around the world.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
