Around the world, more and more countries and legislatures are working toward a zero-emission future. And the first step in that process is often to set a date after which sales of new internal combustion engined vehicles will be banned.

The state of Washington in the U.S., has just passed a law which goes one step further - banning registration of all internal combustion engine vehicles of 2030 model year or younger.

But as we're about to explain, while the new law sets new precedents, it also has some pretty big caveats that could render it useless.
