In conjunction with its new NextGen programming, and as part of its National Torchbearers Program, Go For Broke National Education Center held its inaugural Torchbearer National Convening in Los Angeles. From June 22 – June 25, 2023, young adults from Hawai’i, Colorado, Illinois, Vermont and California gathered to hear individuals who spoke their truths about identity, social issues and the need for dialogue across communities.

With the Go For Broke spirit and legacy of the Japanese American soldiers of WWII at its core, National Convening participants engaged in panel presentations, interactive activities, small group discussions and even a fun summer festival, all of which provided the opportunities for the participants to listen, empathize and engage with each other.
