Fighter aircraft are primarily designed to engage in combat with other fighter aircraft. When a conflict is going on, it is their responsibility to seize control of the airspace over the battlefield. The characteristics of a fighter that are most significant in terms of its performance are not only its weaponry, but also its high speed and its ability to turn swiftly in comparison to the aircraft that it would be attacking. The level of success or failure that a combatant achieves in their efforts to achieve air superiority is determined by a collection of factors. The experience of its pilots, the tactical soundness of its strategy for deploying its jets, the quantity of those fighters, and their overall performance are some of the factors that are considered.
