Sandy Gottesman, an early investor in Berkshire Hathaway, opens up about his long friendship and business relationship with Warren Buffett, from Wall Street in the 1960’s to the 2008 financial crisis and beyond.

David Gottesman was born in 1926 in New York City. He attended Columbia University and received his MBA from Harvard Business School and was the founder of the investment advisory firm First Manhattan Co. He became friends with Warren Buffett in 1962 and became an early investor in Berkshire Hathaway, ultimately becoming a class A shareholder and joining the board of directors in 2003. He is also a philanthropist, with major support of the Yeshiva University Medical School, the Mount Sinai Medical Center, and the American Museum of Natural History.
