Today it’s an engine episode Wednesday, Chrysler would build three generations of the hemi. The first generation was produced from 1951 through 1958. It was available in everything but Plymouth.

The second generation picked up in 1964, but was only available as a race and you would have to know somebody who knew somebody who could get you that engine. It wasn’t available for the buying public. Built a race in Plymouth and Dodge cars for the NASCAR stock car circuit, but was ultimately bad from NASCAR because it wasn’t sold to the public allegedly. The real reason was more like Ford and Chevy could not compete with that at that time.

It’s important to note Chrysler would offer three versions of the 426 of which was the RB block version and two versions of a 426 hemi the race version and the street version.

Enjoy this episode be sure to stick around for name that tune, as well as would you rather
