'Was Fort George In Scotland Impregnable?'

Fort George was the most remarkable fort in 18th century Britain, designed to become a bastion of Hanoverian rule after the Jacobite Rising of 1745.

Completed in 1769, it was built to the north-east of Inverness as part of a network of forts throughout the Scottish Highlands.

Dan Snow takes you on a tour of the fort's defences, from the network of outer trenches to the might inner gates, bearing the arms of George II.

The current fortress has never been attacked and has remained in continuous use as a garrison by the British Army.
