This multiple-award winning 1965 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is a well-known member of the Corvette community in both its home state of Pennsylvania and across the country. It is a low-mileage example with an odometer reading of just 32,778 miles, a figure backed by its Pennsylvania actual mile title. It has been assiduously maintained since the completion of a frame-off, no-expense-spared restoration in completed in 2015.

Produced at the St. Louis assembly plant on July 27, 1965 and sold new on August 14, 1965 at Sutliff Chevrolet of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, it has won numerous National Corvette Restorers Society National and Regional Top Flight Awards, twice reaching a score above 97 points and culminating in the NCRS’ two most prestigious honors: the Duntov Mark of Excellence Award and the Performance Verification Award.

This is one of the most exclusive Corvettes of the second generation as one of just 2,157 produced with the L78 396 CI Mark IV big-block V-8 engine, the first big-block in any production Corvette, replacing the venerated 327 CI fuel injected small-block as the new most powerful Corvette engine. Its single Holley 4-barrel, solid-lifter cam and 11.0:1 compression instantly redefined the Corvette with an astonishing output of 425 HP at 6,400 RPM and 415 lb-ft of torque at 4,000.

Refinished as originally with Nassau Blue metallic paint over a Bright Blue interior, this late-production L78 Corvette offers a 4-speed manual transmission, Positraction differential, K66 transistor ignition, white soft top, Soft Ray tinted glass, a teakwood steering wheel on a telescoping column and an AM/FM radio; it also boasts factory-style side exhaust and 7.75-15 Firestone Super Sports goldline tires on quality reproduction finned aluminum knock-off wheels. This highly awarded midyear big-block 4-speed convertible is offered with extensive documentation that includes the original protect-O-Plate, NCRS Confirmation of Existence Certificate and an NCRS Shipping Data Report.
