Amtrak Acela is arguably "Amtrak High Speed train" and the only high speed train in the United States. When I think of high speed rail I think of Shinkansen in Japan, TGV in France, and Renfe in Spain. The word Amtrak high speed train made me wonder is it really high speed and what is the classifier for high speed. I claim 100 and above is high speed. The Amtrak Acela is not Americas high speed train. It toped off at 80 for the whole ride from Boston Back Bay station to New York Moynihan train hall. The Pacific Surfliner goes 80 mph so I decided the US is not built for high speed rail so expect the delays.
