Maritime Launch Services has been working for years to build Canada's first commercial spaceport, near the small town of Canso, N.S. The town was a historic fishing community that's struggled since the cod collapse of the 1990s.

The company says it chose the Canso area because it's a safe location for launching satellite technology into space and they now have plans for a test launch of sorts next year.
